Nintendo's inaugural Treehouse livestream following the Switch 2 announcement is being bombarded with frustrated viewers demanding price reductions in the chat.
The YouTube live chat reveals overwhelming criticism about Nintendo's next-gen pricing strategy, particularly the $449.99 Switch 2 console and the divisive $79.99 price tag for Mario Kart World.
While the standalone Switch 2 retails at $449.99, a bundle including Mario Kart World priced at $499.99 offers a $30 discount on the game.
Mario Kart World isn't the only Switch 2 title priced at $79.99. Premium editions like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom share this premium pricing.
Nintendo faces additional backlash for charging for the Switch 2 introductory experience, Welcome Tour - which many argue should be complimentary. Unlike PlayStation 5's pre-installed Astro's Playroom that doubles as a free DualSense controller showcase.
