Nintendo Enhances Switch Online With New Features

Just days before the Nintendo Switch 2 launches on June 5, Nintendo has overhauled its Nintendo Switch Online app, starting with a new identity: Nintendo Switch App.
This rebranding marks a major shift, especially since "Nintendo Switch Online" has long represented Nintendo's subscription service for online gaming. Subscribers enjoy multiplayer features to play with friends, along with access to a growing library of classic Nintendo titles from the NES, SNES, Game Boy, Nintendo 64—and soon, with the Switch 2's arrival—the new GameCube collection.
The version 3.0.1 update not only removes "Online" from the app's name but also delivers a redesigned interface for smoother navigation. It now fully supports Nintendo Switch 2 systems and introduces GameChat invites. Users can manage their friends list directly and opt for app notifications when friends go online.
A standout improvement—especially for enthusiasts like me—is the streamlined screenshot and video management, now with direct uploads to the app.

The latest update includes: A rebranding from Nintendo Switch Online to Nintendo Switch App, refreshed design elements, full Nintendo Switch 2 compatibility, new album uploads for screenshots/videos, GameChat invitation support, expanded friend features (including in-app friend requests), online status notifications, and minor optimizations/bug fixes.
