Monster Hunter Wilds Day One Patch: File Size Revealed
The eagerly awaited *Monster Hunter Wilds* has just rolled out its day-one patch, which comes with a hefty file size of 18GB. This significant update was initially released on PlayStation 5, with expectations that Capcom will soon extend it to other platforms. However, the absence of detailed patch notes from the developer has left players curious about the exact changes included in this update.
Speculation among fans suggests that the day-one patch might introduce high-resolution textures to the game. Many reviewers noted that their review copies did not feature these enhanced visuals, which could account for the large size of the update, as high-resolution textures require substantial storage space.
Given its initial release on PlayStation 5, there's a possibility that the patch also includes enhancements for the PS5 Pro. Capcom has confirmed that *Monster Hunter Wilds* will leverage PS5 Pro capabilities at launch, and incorporating these features in the day-one patch could significantly enhance gameplay performance for console players.
Another expected component of this new patch is a suite of bug fixes. Despite Capcom's efforts to polish the game, there are still numerous bugs that need addressing, and it's standard practice to deploy such fixes in the first patch.
Although termed a day-one patch, players who pre-ordered the game can download this update ahead of the official release date. Those with slower internet connections are advised to install the patch before February 28 to ensure a seamless initial playthrough.
It's important to note that this day-one patch, labeled as version 1.000.020, is unlikely to introduce new content. Despite its size, it's considered a minor update focused on enhancing gameplay and addressing bugs.
For those looking forward to new content, *Monster Hunter Wilds* will offer post-launch DLC. There are three paid DLC packs available for purchase, alongside two free content updates. The first free DLC, arriving in the spring, will include Mizutsune and some event quests. Additional content is planned for the summer, featuring new monsters and missions.
*Monster Hunter Wilds* is set to launch on PC and consoles on February 28.
