inZOI Hits 1 Million Sales in Week, Krafton Eyes Long-Term Franchise
inZOI, the new life simulation game from Krafton, has achieved a remarkable feat by selling 1 million copies within just one week of its Early Access launch on Steam. This milestone marks the fastest sales record for any game published by the South Korean giant, underscoring the high demand and interest in this title.
Launched on March 28, inZOI quickly became a topic of discussion, particularly after an unintended bug allowed players to harm children in the game. Krafton promptly addressed this issue, patching it out and labeling it as an "unintended bug." Despite this early controversy, the game has garnered a 'very positive' user review rating on Steam, reflecting strong player satisfaction. It also saw a peak of 175,000 concurrent viewers on Twitch, securing the third spot in the Games category. Remarkably, inZOI reached the top of Steam's Global Top Sellers List within just 40 minutes of its release.
The game's integrated user-generated content (UGC) platform, Canvas, has been a significant success, boasting over 1.2 million participants and more than 470,000 pieces of content uploaded on its launch day. This vibrant community engagement highlights the game's appeal and the creativity it inspires among its players.
IGN's review of the Early Access version of inZOI gave it a 6/10, noting that while the game is visually impressive and ambitious, it currently lacks the depth needed to fully engage players. However, the game's strong performance suggests that Krafton's efforts in promoting inZOI and maintaining open communication with the community have been effective in building trust and momentum.
Krafton's CEO, CH Kim, expressed gratitude and excitement about presenting inZOI to a global audience and emphasized the company's commitment to ongoing communication with players. He aims to nurture inZOI as a long-term franchise IP for Krafton. The company also highlighted that the global showcase and demo build of inZOI attracted significant interest.
Looking ahead, Krafton plans to roll out future updates that will include new content, mod support, and new cities. Importantly, all updates and DLC will be provided for free until the game's full release. In response to player feedback, Krafton has committed to quickly applying fixes for reported issues through hotfixes throughout April. The company acknowledges the scale of inZOI's global community as a "next-level experience" and admits to undergoing some trial and error in optimizing communication with its players.
