Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Composers Snag Golden Globe

Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, the composers behind the score for Naughty Dog's upcoming game Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, have won a Golden Globe Award. Their win for Best Original Score was for their work on Luca Guadagnino's film, Challengers.

The recent trailer for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet showcased a preview of their composition, alongside licensed music included in the game.

Reznor and Ross, known for their extensive collaboration on Nine Inch Nails (founded by Reznor in 1988), have a history of creating award-winning scores for films directed by prominent figures like David Fincher and Pete Docter. Their accolades include an Academy Award for Best Original Score for both The Social Network and Soul, as well as multiple Grammys, an Emmy, and a BAFTA. Reznor also previously created the soundtrack for the 1996 video game Quake and the main title theme for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

Accepting the Golden Globe for the romantic sports drama Challengers, Ross stated on behalf of himself and Reznor that the score, a contemporary electronic soundscape, "never felt like a safe choice, but it always felt like the right one." This energetic score complements the film's themes of athleticism and sensuality.

Given their impressive track record and the potential horror elements hinted at for Intergalactic, the choice of Reznor and Ross as composers is particularly fitting. Their Golden Globe win will undoubtedly amplify anticipation for Intergalactic, which could mark a significant shift for Naughty Dog. The Intergalactic soundtrack promises to be a standout, regardless of the game's final form. The duo's consistent success suggests an exceptional auditory experience awaits.
