Hearthstone Unveils StarCraft Mini-Set: Release Date Announced

Hearthstone enthusiasts have a thrilling update on the horizon with the launch of the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, set for January 21. This Mini-Set, the largest in Hearthstone's history, will introduce an impressive 49 new cards. This collection not only expands the game's universe but also marks a crossover event with Blizzard's iconic science fiction RTS franchise, StarCraft.

Initially announced during the Warcraft Direct on November 13, 2024, the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set adds a significant amount of content to The Great Dark Beyond expansion. Players can look forward to a diverse range of cards, including class-specific cards, multi-class StarCraft faction cards, and a unique neutral Legendary card named Grunty. Each Hearthstone class will receive three new cards, while the three StarCraft factions—Zerg, Protoss, and Terran—are represented by five cards each, one of which is a Legendary.

The Zerg cards, available to Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, and Warlock, focus on summoning numerous Zerglings and utilizing the Hydralisk to deal damage proportional to the size of the swarm. On the other hand, the Protoss cards for Druid, Mage, Priest, and Rogue emphasize mana cheating, allowing players to cast high-cost cards like the Carrier earlier in the game. Meanwhile, the Paladin, Shaman, and Warrior classes will benefit from the Starship mechanic introduced in The Great Dark Beyond, with new Starship Pieces and ways to enhance Starship launches, including a special Mech-type Starship.

Given its larger size, the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set comes with a higher price tag. Players can purchase a complete set of all the new cards for $20 or 2500 gold, with the all-Golden version available for $80 or 12,000 gold. For those interested in specific factions, faction packs containing the Protoss, Terran, or Zerg cards are available for $10 or 1200 gold each.

To celebrate the Mini-Set's release, Hearthstone is hosting two exciting streamed events. StarCast, airing on January 23 at 10 AM PST, will feature renowned StarCraft players TrumpSC and Day9 showcasing the new cards. Following this, HearthCraft on January 24 at 9 AM PST will see Hearthstone community creators representing each faction in competitive matches and mini-games. Viewers can earn two normal and two Golden The Great Dark Beyond packs by watching these events on Twitch, ensuring fans won't want to miss out on the action and the free rewards.
