With the exciting March 2025 update for *Fields of Mistria*, a new item called Essence Stones has been introduced. These stones are essential for several new features, making them a valuable resource for players engaging in daily tasks. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to find, craft, and use Essence Stones of various sizes in *Fields of Mistria*.

Where To Find Essence Stones in Fields of Mistria

Following the March 2025 update, you can discover Essence Stones within chests scattered throughout the mines in *Fields of Mistria*. My first encounter was while searching for items to break the Fire Seal on Floor 60, but these chests can appear on any level across the various biomes and floors. Be cautious, though, as some chests are actually mimics that can harm you upon interaction.

Essence Stones come in four sizes: tiny, small, medium, and large. Smaller stones are more common, but with diligent searching, you can find larger deposits. If you're struggling to locate them, consider crafting them once you've built the Stone Refinery within the mines.

Crafting Essence Stones becomes possible at the Stone Refinery, a new feature added with the March 2025 update. To unlock this facility, you'll need to complete a story quest that involves building the refinery from the ground up inside the mines. This quest will see you working alongside characters Adeline, Olric, and Errol.

To construct the Stone Refinery, gather the following materials:

  • x200 Wood
  • x400 Stone
  • x5,000 Tesserae

Once the refinery is operational, you can craft Essence Stones of different sizes using Stone and Essence. The crafting requirements vary based on the size of the stone you wish to create:

x5 Essence
Small Essence Stonex10 Stone
x25 Essence
Medium Essence Stonex20 Stone
x50 Essence
Large Essence Stonex40 Stone
x100 Essence

The Stone Refinery also allows you to craft other useful materials such as Refined Stone, and rare items like Obsidian and Diamond, making it a central hub for your crafting needs in *Fields of Mistria*.

How To Use Essence Stones in Fields of Mistria

The March 2025 update brought the auto-petter and sprinkler mechanics to *Fields of Mistria*, both of which rely on Essence Stones for operation. Larger stones provide a longer-lasting charge, with Large Essence Stones offering the most days of use.

The auto-petter mechanic is facilitated by the Animal Sprite Statue, which you can install in Large Barns and Coops. This statue ensures that all animals within are automatically petted each day, as long as an Essence Stone is in use. You can find this rare statue in a concealed cave next to Errol’s house in the Narrows, accessible with the Dragon’s Breath spell. Once unlocked, you can craft additional statues if needed.

Similarly, the sprinkler mechanic is activated by the Water Sprite Statue. Place it anywhere on your farm to automatically water crops within a 2-tile radius, provided an Essence Stone is powering it. You can craft more of these statues to meet the needs of your expanding farm. Locate the statue and the crafting scroll on a small island east of the beach, beyond the Lighthouse area. Use the Dragon’s Breath spell to enter the cave there.

As *Fields of Mistria* continues to evolve with updates from NPC Studio, expect Essence Stones to play an increasingly significant role in your gameplay experience.
