Elder Scrolls 4 Remake: Fresh Evidence Surfaces

Rumored Oblivion Remake Fuels Fan Excitement for 2025

A LinkedIn profile belonging to a game developer strongly suggests an Oblivion remake, powered by Unreal Engine 5, is currently under development. This fuels ongoing speculation about a potential reveal during a speculated Xbox Developer Direct in 2025. The event itself remains unconfirmed, but past Developer Directs in January 2023 and 2024 make this a plausible scenario.

Rumors of an Oblivion remake have circulated for years, with a 2023 prediction suggesting a 2024 or 2025 release. Xbox insider Jez Corden further fueled the fire in late December 2024, forecasting a January 2025 unveiling at an Xbox Developer Direct. This new LinkedIn entry adds significant weight to these persistent whispers.

The LinkedIn page of a Technical Art Director at Virtuos, a Chinese developer reportedly involved in the project, showcases work on an "unannounced Unreal Engine 5 remake for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S." While the game isn't explicitly named, the context strongly points towards Oblivion, particularly given the use of Unreal Engine 5, suggesting a full remake rather than a simple remaster. Separately, plans for a Fallout 3 remaster surfaced in late 2023, but its current status remains unclear.

Oblivion Remake: Adding to the Anticipation

Released in 2006, Oblivion, the sequel to 2002's Morrowind, was critically acclaimed for its expansive world, visuals, and soundtrack. Since 2012, a dedicated fan community has been working on Skyblivion, a mod recreating Oblivion within Skyrim's engine. A recent update from the Skyblivion team hints at a 2025 release for their ambitious project.

The future of the Elder Scrolls franchise remains shrouded in mystery. The only trailer for Elder Scrolls 6 debuted in 2018. Bethesda Game Studios has confirmed it's their next major project after Starfield, with director Todd Howard suggesting a release timeframe of "15 to 17 years after Skyrim." While a concrete release date is still distant, fans are hopeful for a new trailer before the end of 2025. The potential Oblivion remake adds another layer of excitement to this anticipation.
