Dune: Awakening Nears 100K Players on Steam Early
Dune: Awakening hasn't officially launched yet, but it's already shattered Steam records with nearly 100,000 concurrent players.
SteamDB data shows the survival MMO reached 93,634 simultaneous players on June 5 during its head start phase—accessible only to players who purchased the $69.99 Deluxe or $89.99 Ultimate editions. The full public release arrives June 10, 2025.
While concurrent players don't tell the whole story—especially since the game isn't yet available on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S—it's still an impressive feat for a pre-launch title.
With peak gaming traffic typically occurring on weekends, Dune: Awakening could break its own record before June 10. Currently ranking #195 among Steam's all-time concurrent peaks, this performance is remarkable for an unreleased game.
Though we haven't completed our full review, our beta impressions highlighted the developers' meticulous worldbuilding. "Funcom crafted a fresh perspective on the Dune universe while preserving its essence—from faction dynamics to environmental storytelling that will delight series veterans," we noted in IGN's beta preview.
"The gameplay shines through subtle details that reshape entire playthroughs without giving spoilers, this thoughtful design permeates every encounter and location."
