Dragon Age: Veilguard Free Weapon DLC Out Now

BioWare has largely shifted focus from Dragon Age: The Veilguard, yet the remaining team surprised fans by quietly adding a small DLC weapons pack to the game.

The Dragon Age community was stunned when Steam updated the RPG's page to include free additional content dubbed the Rook's Weapons Appearance Offer. While modest in scope, this unexpected addition comes as a welcome gesture considering EA's previous indications about reduced support for Veilguard. After January's fifth patch emphasized that future updates would primarily address critical bugs, any new content – however small – feels like an unexpected bonus.

The Rook's Weapons Appearances bundle comes with unusual restrictions – only available to current owners and new PC buyers who purchase by April 8, 2025. While the exact contents remain unspecified, players discovered it unlocks Watchful weapon skins accessible through the protagonist's in-game quarters. The bundle's availability for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions remains uncertain.

"Even if these appearances aren't the most visually stunning," notes one Steam review, "they deliver eerie eldritch horror aesthetics!"

"It's cosmetic DLC, but essentially free content for a game receiving minimal updates," commented a Redditor. "I'll happily take it."

Dragon Age: The Veilguard received generally favorable reviews upon its October launch, yet EA confirmed it failed to "connect with mainstream audiences." Key developers announced their departure from BioWare in late January amid studio restructuring that saw staff either laid off or reassigned. EA informed IGN the studio would now concentrate fully on the upcoming Mass Effect title.

The game's inclusion in PlayStation Plus March 2025 offerings came just four months post-launch. No additional plans for Veilguard's future have been disclosed.
