Pearl Abyss Prioritizes Independence Over PS5 Exclusivity
Crimson Desert Release Date and Platforms Still Unconfirmed
Pearl Abyss remains committed to self-publishing Crimson Desert. In a statement to Eurogamer, the developer reiterated its previous announcement of independent publishing, emphasizing its ongoing communication and collaborative discussions with various business partners.
A public showcase of Crimson Desert is planned for November. Pearl Abyss clarified that no release date has been set, and any reports to the contrary are purely speculative. A playable build will be shown to media this week in Paris, followed by a public demonstration at G-Star in November.
According to a September investor meeting, Sony attempted to secure Crimson Desert as a PS5 exclusive, potentially excluding Xbox for a period. However, Pearl Abyss opted for self-publishing, believing it to be a more lucrative strategy.
The final platform lineup and release date for Crimson Desert remain unannounced, though a PC, PlayStation, and Xbox launch is anticipated around Q2 2025.
