In *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*, the choice to confront either Wakasa or Otama during the "The Tea Ceremony" mission significantly impacts the rest of your campaign. Both characters present themselves as suspicious during the ceremony, but there's a clear choice that simplifies the quest considerably.

Should You Confront Wakasa or Otama in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

After the tea ceremony, the best course of action is to confront Wakasa. She is the true Golden Teppo of the Onryo, and identifying her correctly leads to the easiest way to eliminate her. When you confront Wakasa, she invites Naoe to her home to discuss the matter privately. Upon entering, you'll notice a kasa (straw hat) on her wall, the same one worn by the Onryo during the prologue, confirming your choice.

Following some dialogue, Naoe can quickly end the mission by taking Wakasa's Teppo from the wall and shooting her at point-blank range.

What If You Confront Otama in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

If you mistakenly decide to confront Otama after the tea ceremony, you'll still eventually kill Wakasa, but the process becomes much more challenging. Choosing Otama leads Naoe to chase and kill her, only to discover from a letter on her person that she was corrupt, but not the Golden Teppo. This mistake allows Wakasa to escape and fortify herself in Osaka Castle with her soldiers.

To reach Wakasa, you'll need to travel to Osaka Castle, either fighting her soldiers or sneaking past them. Even if you manage to get close enough for a stealth assassination, you'll still need to engage Wakasa in a one-on-one combat. While the boss fight isn't overly difficult, confronting Wakasa directly from the start is far less troublesome and provides a more satisfying cinematic kill, especially given her role in Naoe's father's death.
