Resident Evil 9 Teased by Capcom Following RE4 Sales Milestone
Capcom has subtly teased Resident Evil 9 in plain view for all to see.
Marking the impressive milestone of 10 million players, the Resident Evil 4 development team shared a brief video on social media earlier today, April 25. In the clip, Ada Wong is seen having a quiet exchange with one of gaming's most iconic villains. The scene then shifts to Leon, surrounded by an infected crowd wearing festive party hats as they slowly advance toward the church.
The video transitions to a rock track, showing Dr. Salvador strumming his chainsaw like a guitar — yes, seriously — followed by a shot of Leon pumping his fist. In the background, a weathered sign displays the message "Thank you for playing."

If you look closely, turning the sign sideways reveals that the planks form the Roman numeral "IX," which represents the number 9.
Although it might be a coincidence, as noted by horror game leaker Dusk Golem in a recent post, the lower plank on the sign is clearly missing in earlier segments of the video, confirming it was added on purpose. Interpret that as you wish.
"I see what you did here," remarked one surprised viewer, adding a wide-eyed emoji.
Capcom has officially announced that the next mainline Resident Evil title will be directed by Koshi Nakanishi, who previously directed Resident Evil 7.
"It was quite a challenge to decide on the direction after [Resident Evil 7]," Nakanishi explained earlier. "But I've found it, and honestly, it feels substantial. I can't reveal specifics yet, but I hope you look forward to the day I can." Rumors suggest the game may be set on an island inspired by Singapore, though this has not been confirmed.
