Summary

  • Treyarch confirms it is working on adding a feature to allow Black Ops 6 players to track challenges in the game's UI.
  • Challenge tracking was available in 2023's Modern Warfare 3, but did not carry over to Black Ops 6.
  • A release date for the feature is currently unknown, but a major content update is coming later this month.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 developer Treyarch Studios has announced they are actively developing a feature to bring back the ability to track challenges within the game's UI. This much-requested feature, which was available in 2023's Modern Warfare 3, was noticeably absent from Black Ops 6, leaving fans disappointed. While the exact release date for this feature remains unconfirmed, anticipation builds as Season 2 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is slated to launch later this month, potentially bringing this update along with it.

On January 9th, Treyarch rolled out a new update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, enhancing both Multiplayer and Zombies modes. The patch included multiple fixes to the UI and audio, alongside an increase in XP for the newly added Red Light, Green Light game mode in Multiplayer. Zombies mode received significant attention in this update, with Treyarch reversing a controversial change from the January 3rd update. In response to community feedback, they removed the extended time between rounds and the delay in zombie spawning after five looped rounds in Directed Mode.

Treyarch Confirms New Black Ops 6 Feature in Development

Although not mentioned in the latest patch notes, Treyarch directly addressed a fan's request on Twitter for the ability to track challenges during Multiplayer matches. The studio confirmed that this feature is "currently in the works." The absence of this popular feature from Modern Warfare 3 in Black Ops 6, despite both games being accessible through the Call of Duty HQ app, had left many fans frustrated.

The introduction of challenge tracking in Black Ops 6 will be a significant enhancement, especially for players striving to unlock the game's coveted Mastery camos. If implemented similarly to Modern Warfare 3, players will be able to select a specific challenge, such as a headshot camo for a weapon, and monitor their progress in real-time through the in-game UI. This will provide immediate feedback on how close they are to completing a challenge, eliminating the need to wait until the end of a match.

In another interaction with a fan, Treyarch also confirmed that a major update for Black Ops 6 Zombies is in development. Responding to a request for separate HUD settings for Multiplayer and Zombies, Treyarch stated that this feature is "also in the works," promising a more seamless experience for players switching between modes.
