New Information About Blades of Fire

MercurySteam, the studio behind Blades of Fire, boasts a pedigree steeped in the legacy of Severance: Blade of Darkness. This 2001 cult classic, birthed by Rebel Act Studios (many of whom now form MercurySteam), revolutionized action gaming with its brutal, limb-severing combat. This visceral, realistic approach served as a cornerstone of inspiration for Blades of Fire.
But Blades of Fire isn't just a nostalgic throwback. The developers also drew heavily from modern action-adventure giants, notably the cinematic combat and richly detailed world of Santa Monica Studio's God of War reboot. The result is a fast-paced action game infused with RPG elements, promising an immersive and captivating experience.
A key element setting Blades of Fire apart is its innovative weapon crafting system. Players forge their own blades, meticulously customizing length, weight, durability, and balance. This allows for personalized weapon builds perfectly tailored to individual combat styles.
The game follows Aran de Lira, a warrior locked in a desperate struggle against a formidable queen with the power to turn metal to stone. Aran's journey will pit him against 50 distinct enemy types, each demanding a unique tactical approach.
Blades of Fire launches on PC (Epic Games Store), Xbox Series X|S, and PS5 on May 22, 2025.
