At 7.5 pounds and 0.85 inches thick, it's still a robust machine, also equipped with a 360W power brick for optimal performance when plugged in. With a 16-inch display and a standard laptop keyboard without a numpad, it forgoes the ethernet port but maintains the same high-performance internals, including an Intel Core Ultra 9 HX processor and up to an Nvidia RTX 5090 GPU, supported by a strong cooling system.

Four models are available at a discount for Memorial Day. The $2,850 model features RTX 5070 Ti graphics, while the $2,999.99 and $3,150 models come with RTX 5080 GPUs. The top-tier $3,650 model is equipped with an RTX 5090.

The RTX 5070 Ti mobile GPU, hailed as the true successor to the RTX 4070, delivers performance comparable to the RTX 4080, making it ideal for gaming at the native 1920x1200 resolution. The RTX 5080, on the other hand, outperforms the RTX 4080 by 15-20% and even edges out the RTX 4090 by about 5%. Despite being nearly $1,000 less than the RTX 5090, the RTX 5080 is only about 15% less powerful, making it an excellent value. The Area-51: New Style, More Power, Better Cooling

For 2025, the Alienware Area-51 introduces a magnesium alloy chassis with enhanced cooling capabilities to manage the latest high-performance components. This includes more fans, larger air vents, increased copper usage, and a new thermal interface material for superior heat dissipation. Dell states that the laptop can maintain a 240W TDP without increasing noise levels.

The Area-51's design features smooth contours with rounded edges and soft corners, a departure from typical squared-off designs. The hinges are mostly hidden, enhancing the aesthetic appeal. As expected from an Alienware laptop, there are numerous RGB LED lighting customization options. Connectivity options include three USB Type-A 3.2 15Gbps ports (one with PowerShare), two Thunderbolt / USB Type-C ports, an HDMI 2.1 port, and a card reader. The 16-inch model weighs 7.5 pounds, while the 18-inch model is 9.6 pounds.
