For the first time, the enthralling narrative of the Abyss is making its way to mobile devices with a new game titled "Made in Abyss: A Difficult and Mysterious Journey." The announcement came alongside the launch of the game's official X account, which will be the go-to source for updates as the release date approaches.
While details about the gameplay are still under wraps, it's confirmed that this will be a casual mobile title. Fans can look forward to playing on both Android and iOS platforms, though currently, the game is slated for release in Japan only. There's no information yet on whether a global launch is planned.
Dived into the Abyss Yet?
The universe of Made in Abyss began in 2012 with Akihito Tsukushi's manga, serialized on Web Comic Gamma. The story follows Riko, a young orphan from the town of Orth, which encircles a colossal vertical chasm known as the Abyss. This enigmatic pit is teeming with ancient technology, bizarre creatures, and a chilling mystery that engulfs those who dare to explore it.
Riko's ambition is to emulate her mother, Lyza, a renowned White Whistle Cave Raider who vanished within the Abyss. On her journey, Riko encounters Reg, a mysterious half-robot boy with no recollection of his origins. Together, they embark on a perilous descent into the Abyss, aware of the high stakes and the possibility of no return.
The manga's popularity led to an anime adaptation in 2017, followed by a sequel film, "Dawn of the Deep Soul," released in Japan in 2020. Additionally, in 2022, Chime Corporation brought the story to consoles and PCs with the RPG "Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness."
