"Now You See Me 3 Renamed; Sequel Confirmed"
Big news for fans of the Now You See Me series: the franchise is expanding with not just one, but two new installments. Now You See Me 3 has been officially titled Now You See Me: Now You Don’t and is slated for release on November 14, 2025. Additionally, Now You See Me 4 is already in development, as announced by Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, during CinemaCon.
Director Ruben Fleischer, known for his work on Zombieland, Uncharted, and Venom, has signed on to helm both the third and fourth films. The Now You See Me franchise, which has grossed over $700 million globally, continues to captivate audiences with its blend of action and heist elements.
The first two films featured a stellar cast including Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, and Morgan Freeman. The third installment, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, will introduce a new generation of illusionists played by Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, and Ariana Greenblatt, with Rosamund Pike also joining the cast. Fleischer reunites with Eisenberg and Harrelson, marking another collaboration following their successful work on Zombieland.
Bobby Cohen, the original developer and producer of the series, will return to produce the new films alongside Alex Kurtzman of Secret Hideout. Meredith Wieck will oversee the project for Lionsgate.
Adam Fogelson praised Fleischer's work, saying, “Ruben has delivered all of the twists and turns and sleight-of-hand that audiences expect from this franchise while upping the stakes and scale in every way. We can’t wait for audiences to discover what he’s done with the third film and are thrilled he’ll be making even more magic with us.”
Fleischer expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “Directing Now You See Me: Now You Don’t was as much fun as making any movie in my career. It combines two of my favorite things — heist movies and magic — and working with this incredible cast was truly magical. Of course, I want to keep it going.”
Despite the excitement around the new films, the franchise has received mixed reviews in the past. IGN’s review of the first Now You See Me film gave it a 6.3/10, criticizing its "smarmy, shallow characters and a flimsy, nonsensical plot." The sequel, Now You See Me 2, scored a 6.2/10, with IGN noting that it was "all flash and no substance."
With the promise of more twists, turns, and magical heists, fans of the Now You See Me series have much to look forward to in the coming years.
