Winter Veil Lore Unveiled in Latest WoW Video
World of Warcraft's Festive Feast: A Lore-Filled Celebration
World of Warcraft (WoW) and PlatinumWoW have collaborated on a captivating lore video unveiling the rich history behind the annual in-game event, the Feast of Winter Veil – WoW's version of Christmas. This holiday tradition, complete with unique rewards and activities, adds new collectibles each year.
The video delves into the origins of Winter Veil, exploring Dwarven myths of Greatfather Winter (a Titan-forged giant), Tauren traditions of spiritual renewal, and the humorous commercialization by the Goblin-run Smokeywood Pastures.
Metzen the Reindeer's Misadventures
No Winter Veil story is complete without mentioning Metzen the Reindeer, named after former creative director Chris Metzen. This unfortunate creature boasts a history of three kidnappings: pirates and Dark Iron dwarves in Classic WoW, and even the Grinch in the current iteration. The video concludes with a comical thank you from Metzen, voiced in Thrall's iconic tones (a nod to Metzen's voice acting).
A Continuing Collaboration
This isn't the first partnership between WoW and PlatinumWoW. Previous collaborations include lore videos on Nerubians, Vrykul, the Scourge, World Trees, and Blackrock Depths, showcasing Blizzard's ongoing embrace of content creator collaborations.
Winter Veil Festivities Continue
Players can still partake in the Feast of Winter Veil until January 5th, 2024. This year's highlights include a tamable Dreaming Festive Reindeer for Hunters and new holiday transmogs and the Grunch pet for all players. Don't forget to check under the tree in Orgrimmar or Stormwind for a special gift!
