World of Warcraft Patch 11.1 Adding Two New Types of Races

World of Warcraft's Patch 11.1, "Undermined," introduces thrilling new race types: Breakneck D.R.I.V.E. races and Skyrocket races. These replace traditional Skyriding races within the new Undermine zone.

Undermine, the Goblin capital, prohibits flying. Instead, players navigate using the customizable D.R.I.V.E. vehicle, offering a unique, high-speed ground-based racing experience surpassing even Skyriding's pace. Breakneck races fully utilize the D.R.I.V.E. system's potential.

Complementing the D.R.I.V.E. races are the innovative Skyrocket races. These utilize Goblin jetpacks for aerial maneuvering, offering a distinct gameplay feel. Unlike traditional flying or Skyriding, jetpack flight balances controlled movement with momentum; players can't stop mid-air but maintain altitude and speed. Ring collection boosts speed, but increased velocity reduces maneuverability, adding a layer of strategic challenge.

Skyrocket and Breakneck Race Overview:

Undermine's no-fly policy eliminates Skyriding races, but both Breakneck and Skyrocket races offer Bronze, Silver, and Gold achievement rewards for completion. Interestingly, reverse versions of all races exist, though advanced or challenge courses are absent.

Player reception to the Skyrocket races is currently mixed. While some anticipate the new experience, others express concerns about the jetpack's perceived stiffness and lack of responsiveness compared to Skyriding. However, with Patch 11.1 still under development (anticipated February release), further refinements are expected.
