During a recent appearance on YouTube's Mythical Kitchen, Hawk revealed that he's been collaborating with Activision on a special project. "I've been talking to Activision again, which is insanely exciting. We're working on something—This is the first time I've said that publicly," he announced. While details remain scarce, Hawk assured fans that the project will be "something they'll truly appreciate."
The original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater launched on September 29, 1999, under Activision's publishing wing. The franchise achieved remarkable commercial success, spawning numerous sequels. In 2020, a remastered collection of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 (THPS1+2) was released, with initial plans to remaster Pro Skater 3 and 4.
However, the Pro Skater remaster project, handled by the now-disbanded Vicarious Visions, was ultimately canceled. In a 2022 Twitch stream, Hawk explained, "I wish I could say we have something in the works, but Vicarious Visions was disbanded, and Activision is restructuring. I don't know what's next." He added that the plan to remaster 3 and 4 was halted after Vicarious Visions' closure.
In the lead-up to the 25th anniversary, the game's official social media channels shared new artwork and announced a giveaway for the Collector's Edition of the THPS1+2 remaster.
This recent activity has fueled speculation about a new Tony Hawk game announcement coinciding with the anniversary. Reports suggest a possible reveal during a rumored Sony State of Play event this month. While unconfirmed, Hawk hasn't specified whether this project is a new game or a continuation of the canceled remaster.
