Star Wars and The Mandalorian Invade Monopoly Go
Mobile gaming sensation Monopoly GO! is stepping into a galaxy far, far away with an exciting new collaboration: Star Wars. Announced today at Star Wars Celebration in Japan, this limited-time event will run from May 1 to July 2, blending the iconic moments of the Skywalker Saga and The Mandalorian with the beloved mechanics of Monopoly Go.
As part of the crossover, players can look forward to adorable cartoon-style renditions of legendary Star Wars characters. The event introduces a brand-new Star Wars-themed sticker album to complete, thrilling podracing action in the Mos Espa Grand Arena, and a variety of collectible in-game items such as tokens, shields, and emojis. It's a unique experience seeing icons like Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Princess Leia, Han Solo, R2D2, Yoda, Anakin Skywalker, and Qui-Gon Jinn hanging out with Mr. Monopoly (Rich Uncle Pennybags) in one delightfully odd universe.
This isn't Monopoly GO!’s first high-profile crossover—last September saw the game embrace the Marvel Universe with characters like Spider-Man, Wolverine, and the Avengers getting their own Monopoly makeover.
Meanwhile, publisher Scopely continues to expand its mobile gaming dominance. Recently, it acquired the development teams behind Pokémon GO, Pikmin Bloom, and Monster Hunter Now as part of a strategic partnership with Niantic.
According to a report from our sister site, GamesIndustry.biz, Monopoly GO! reigned supreme as the top-grossing mobile game in 2024, generating an impressive $2.47 billion in consumer spending—enough to buy a lot of gold toilets for the team. In the same year, Scopely celebrated 150 million downloads and 10 million daily active users, cementing the game’s place as a global phenomenon in mobile gaming.
So whether you're racing through the desert sands of Tatooine or trading properties on Park Place, Monopoly GO! keeps proving that when it comes to mobile games, it's always "GO!" time.
