Silksong Developer Reaffirms Release for Switch 1

Following Silksong's brief appearance at the Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 on April 2, many fans speculated that the game might bypass the current generation and launch directly on the next-gen console. Originally announced in 2019 for PC and the original Nintendo Switch, Silksong later saw its platform list expanded to include PlayStation and Xbox consoles by developer Team Cherry.

On April 8, Matthew Griffin, Team Cherry's Marketing and PR Handler, took to Twitter (X) to address fans' concerns about the game's platform availability. Griffin confirmed that Silksong will indeed be released for both the original Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2.

While specifics on how the versions will differ have not been disclosed, it's anticipated that the game will benefit from higher resolutions and enhanced features on the Switch 2.

New Silksong Images Revealed

Following the Nintendo Direct for Switch 2, new images of Silksong were showcased on Nintendo Japan's official website. Although the settings in these images are familiar from previous reveals, fans have pointed out noticeable graphical enhancements since the game's initial announcement in 2019.

Despite Team Cherry's usual secrecy regarding the game's development, Silksong's appearance in the Switch 2 Direct and the release of new images have fueled speculation that an official release date announcement might be imminent. Recent updates to Silksong's Steam metadata have further ignited fans' hopes for a launch within the current year.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
