Rune Slayer Fishing 101
So, you've heard whispers about fishing in *Rune Slayer*, the unlikely MMORPG, and you're ready to cast your line? Don't worry, we were stumped at first too. But fear not, fellow angler! This guide will walk you through the surprisingly unintuitive process of catching fish in *Rune Slayer*. (Spoiler alert: It's nothing like *Fisch*.)

First things first: Seek out Simon the Fisherman, the white-haired NPC near the pier where the barracuda swim. He'll give you a quest to catch 5 "fish" (we'll explain the quotes later). To do this, you'll need a fishing rod and bait. Guess who sells those?

That's right, Simon! Buy a Wood Fishing Rod and some Worms. We recommend at least 5 worms, but 10 is better to be safe. Important note: You don't *equip* the worms; they simply need to be in your inventory. Each successful catch (or "catch") will automatically consume a worm. And here's the kicker: you seem to need at least 5 worms in your inventory to even *begin* catching anything. We suggest keeping them in your hotbar for easy tracking.
How to Catch Fish in *Rune Slayer*

Select your Wood Fishing Rod (you can't equip it, just have it in your hotbar). Hold down M1 to cast your line into the water (the pier by Simon is perfect). Watch the bobber; when it ripples (once or twice), click M1 again to reel in your catch. It won't always be a fish; you might catch junk. But don't worry, Simon counts junk as a catch (hence the "fish" quotes earlier).

Once you've "caught" 5 items, return to Simon to complete the quest. He'll reward you with a tackle box to store your remaining worms, freeing up valuable inventory space. That's it! Happy fishing! For more *Rune Slayer* tips and tricks, check out our Ultimate Beginner's Guide.
