Will R.E.P.O come to consoles?

The co-op horror game, R.E.P.O., released in February, has quickly gained popularity, boasting over 200,000 PC players. But will this chilling experience make its way to consoles? Let's dive in.
Will R.E.P.O. Come to Consoles?
Currently, there are no plans for a console release of R.E.P.O., and it may remain a PC exclusive. Developer semiwork hasn't indicated any intention to port the game to consoles. Their current focus is on refining the game's multiplayer experience on PC.
This small development team is facing a significant challenge: improving multiplayer mechanics without alienating players who use mods. Implementing an anti-cheat system would unfortunately break many existing mods, a compromise they're unwilling to make. As the developer explained to PCGamer, "The main issue with matchmaking lobbies is hackers. But the issue with an anti-cheat system is that you’re ruining the experience for everyone who has made mods, because mods don’t work with an anti-cheat system. And we don’t want that."
While some PC-only titles, like Mouthwashing, have transitioned to consoles, it's important to note that Mouthwashing is a single-player game, simplifying the porting process considerably. Similarly, Lethal Company and Content Warning, previous games from the same vein, remain PC-exclusive. Last year, the developers of Content Warning considered a console release, but technical hurdles proved insurmountable. No further updates on a console port have been announced since.
In short, the future of R.E.P.O. on consoles remains uncertain. The developers are prioritizing the PC version's multiplayer functionality, and haven't expressed any interest in a console port at this time.
