PS5 New Beta Update Brings Several QoL Improvements

Sony's latest PlayStation 5 beta update follows the recent URL game session linking feature, offering several quality-of-life improvements. This article details the update's key features and beta participation.
Enhanced PS5 Experience: New Beta Update Unveiled
Key Features of the Beta Update
Announced by Sony's VP of Product Management, Hiromi Wakai, the beta update introduces personalized 3D audio profiles, improved Remote Play options, and adaptive charging for controllers.
The personalized 3D audio allows users to tailor their audio experience using compatible headphones (like the Pulse Elite) or earbuds (like the Pulse Explore) via sound tests. This creates a more immersive gaming experience with enhanced spatial awareness.
The enhanced Remote Play settings provide greater control over remote access to the PS5, particularly beneficial for households with multiple users. Access can be managed within the system settings.
Adaptive charging for controllers (on the slim PS5 model) optimizes power consumption by adjusting charging based on battery level while the console is in rest mode. This feature is managed within the Power Saving settings.
Beta Participation and Global Rollout

Currently, the beta is limited to invited participants in select regions (U.S., Canada, Japan, U.K., Germany, and France). Invitations are sent via email, with instructions for downloading and participating. Note that features may change or be removed before the full release, based on user feedback.
Sony emphasizes the importance of community feedback in shaping the final update, aiming for a global release in the coming months.
Building Upon Previous Enhancements

This beta builds upon the recent update (Version 24.05-09.60.00) that introduced URL sharing for open game sessions. This allows players to easily invite others by sharing a link, enhancing social interaction within games. The new beta further refines the PS5 experience with improved personalization and control.
