Proxi, The Sims Creator's New Game, Has More Details Revealed

Will Wright, the visionary behind The Sims, recently unveiled more details about his new AI-powered life simulation game, Proxi, during a Twitch livestream. This highly anticipated title, first hinted at in 2018, is finally taking shape under the development banner of Gallium Studio. Learn more about Proxi's unique approach to interactive memory!

A Deep Dive into Personal Storytelling

The livestream, hosted by BreakthroughT1D (a leading T1D research organization), offered a fascinating glimpse into Proxi's core mechanics. Wright explained that Proxi is an "AI life sim built from your memories," allowing players to input personal memories as text. The game then transforms these memories into animated scenes, customizable with in-game assets for enhanced realism.

Each uploaded memory, termed a "mem," trains the game's AI, expanding the player's "mind world"—a navigable 3D environment of interconnected hexagons. As the mind world grows, so does its population of Proxies, representing friends and family. Memories can be arranged chronologically and linked to specific Proxies, creating a rich tapestry of personal experiences. Remarkably, these Proxies can even be exported to other game platforms like Minecraft and Roblox!

The game's ambition is to create "magical connections with memories, bringing them to life." Wright emphasized his desire for a deeply personal player experience, a concept he playfully elaborated on: "No game designer ever went wrong by overestimating the narcissism of their players. The more I can make a game about you, the more you'll like it."

Proxi is now featured on Gallium Studio's website, with platform announcements expected soon.
