Get ready to celebrate the New Year in Pokémon GO! From December 30th to January 1st, 2025, a special New Year's event brings themed bonuses, exciting Pokémon encounters, and a host of ways to ring in 2025 in style.

Following the December 21st-22nd Community Day event featuring returning Community Day Pokémon, this New Year's event offers a fresh wave of festivities.

One of the event's highlights is the chance to earn a whopping 2,025 XP for every Pokémon caught with an Excellent Throw. Immerse yourself in the festive atmosphere with New Year's decorations and celebratory fireworks illuminating the skies.

Expect increased encounters with special, festively-dressed Pokémon. Keep an eye out for Jigglypuff with a ribbon, Hoothoot in a New Year's outfit, and Wurmple sporting a party hat – and don't forget the possibility of encountering their Shiny variants!

Raids are also getting a festive makeover. One-star raids feature a snowflake-capped Pikachu, while three-star raids bring party-hat-wearing Raticate and Wobbuffet. All three boast increased Shiny rates during the event.

For players who prefer quests, Field Research and Timed Research tasks offer numerous Pokémon encounters. A paid Timed Research ($2) provides exclusive rewards, including three Premium Battle Passes, three Lucky Eggs, 2,025 Stardust, and encounters with event Pokémon.
