Pokemon TCG Vending Machines: A Guide for Trainers

If you're a Pokemon fan active on social media, you've likely encountered discussions about Pokemon vending machines. The Pokemon Company's expanding US rollout has generated plenty of questions, and this guide provides the answers.

What are Pokemon Vending Machines?

These automated machines dispense Pokemon merchandise, much like a soda machine—though perhaps not as budget-friendly. While various types have existed, the current US focus is on TCG-centric models initially tested in Washington in 2017. This trial's success led to wider deployment across US grocery stores in recent years.

The machines are easily recognizable, featuring bright colors and prominent Pokemon branding. Their modern touchscreen interface replaces older button-press systems. Browsing available TCG items, selecting purchases, and checking out via credit card is a straightforward process, enhanced by charming Pokemon animations. A digital receipt is emailed to you after purchase, but note that returns are not accepted.

What do Pokemon Vending Machines Sell?

Primarily, US Pokemon vending machines stock Pokemon TCG products, including Elite Trainer Boxes, Booster Packs, and related items. Even during peak shopping periods, stock levels can remain surprisingly high. While some older items or less popular boxes may sell out quickly, the availability of booster packs and other products is often good.

Unlike some Pokemon Center machines in Washington State (which offered a broader merchandise selection but appear to be less common now), these machines generally do not sell plushies, apparel, video games, or other non-TCG merchandise.
