Pokémon Fossil Museum to Showcase Real and Fake Fossils in U.S. Next Year
The Pokémon Company has exciting news for fans in North America: the Pokémon Fossil Museum is set to make its debut in the region come May 2026. Curious about what the Pokémon Fossil Museum entails? It's exactly what it sounds like—a unique exhibition that juxtaposes fabricated Pokémon "fossils" with real-world ancient lifeforms found in fossils. Following its initial launch in Japan, the exhibition will now journey to Chicago's Field Museum on May 22, 2026, marking its first venture outside of Japan.
"During your visit, you’ll be able to explore vibrant Pokémon models displayed alongside extinct lifeforms from the Field Museum’s collection. This includes scientific casts of iconic Field Museum dinosaurs like SUE the T. rex and the Chicago Archaeopteryx, placed next to Fossil Pokémon such as Tyrantrum and Archeops," the museum stated. "How many differences and similarities will you discover, Trainers?"

For those unable to travel to either Japan or Chicago, there's good news: The Pokémon Company, in collaboration with the Toyohashi Museum of Natural History, has introduced a virtual tour of the Pokémon Fossil Museum. This allows Pokémon enthusiasts to explore the exhibit from the comfort of their homes, viewing both real and Pokémon fossils, including everything from a tyrannosaurus to a Tyrantrum.
In other Pokémon-related news, authorities in the UK recently arrested a man after uncovering a stash of stolen Pokémon cards valued at £250,000 (approximately $332,500). The discovery was made following a raid by Greater Manchester Police at a residence in Hyde, Tameside, on the outskirts of Greater Manchester. A police spokesperson humorously remarked, "Gotta catch 'em all."
