Phasmophobia: Music Box Guide for Paranormal Investigators
Mastering the Music Box in Phasmophobia: A Guide to Location, Usage, and Hunt Initiation
Phasmophobia challenges players to identify ghost types and escape with their lives. The game's frequent updates introduce new elements, including the intriguing Music Box. This guide details how to acquire and effectively utilize this cursed possession.
Locating the Music Box
Like other cursed items in Phasmophobia, the Music Box has a 1/7 chance of appearing on any given map. Its spawn is entirely random; there's no guaranteed method to obtain it. Only one Music Box can spawn per game. Once located, interact with it to pick it up and activate it with another interaction.
Utilizing the Music Box
Several strategies revolve around the Music Box. Upon activation, it plays a tune. If a ghost is within 20 meters, it will "sing along," revealing its proximity. Within 5 meters, the ghost will approach the Box. You can strategically place the activated Box on the ground to lure the ghost. The music stops automatically upon completion. Note that holding the activated Music Box depletes your sanity.
Triggering a Hunt
The Music Box can initiate either a cursed or standard hunt, depending on these conditions:
- Throwing the active Box: Throwing the Music Box while it's playing triggers a cursed hunt.
- Zero Sanity: Reaching 0% sanity while holding the active Music Box also triggers a cursed hunt.
- Prolonged Ghost Approach: The ghost approaching the Box for over five seconds initiates a hunt.
- Ghost Proximity: A ghost near the player holding the active Music Box can trigger a hunt.
For optimal use, carry additional tools like Smudge Sticks to increase your survival chances during a hunt, allowing you to identify the ghost type or complete other objectives.
