Moon Knight Returns Without a Season 2, Marvel Confirms
Marvel fans eager to see more of Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight in the MCU will be pleased to hear that the character is set to return, though not through a second season of the Disney+ series. According to Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, the direction of Marvel's TV strategy has shifted since the release of Moon Knight in 2022.
Previously, Marvel Television focused on establishing characters through their own series, which would then tie into future projects. This approach allowed characters like Kamala Khan to be introduced in Ms. Marvel before her role in The Marvels. However, the strategy has evolved to align more closely with traditional television, featuring annual releases.
Winderbaum explained, "So I think Marvel Television has happened in waves, and I think Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future. And moving forward our priorities have shifted. We're making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road."
While Isaac lent his voice to Moon Knight in the third and final season of the animated series Marvel's What If...?, details on his live-action return remain under wraps.
Looking ahead, Marvel's confirmed lineup of upcoming Disney+ shows includes Daredevil: Born Again in March, Ironheart in June, Eyes of Wakanda in August, Marvel Zombies in October, and Wonder Man in December. Meanwhile, Marvel Television has reportedly paused development on Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc., but Winderbaum hinted at potential projects reuniting the street-level heroes of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist, collectively known as The Defenders.
