Metaphor: ReFantazio Releases New Update for January 2025

Metaphor: ReFantazio receives Update 1.11, enhancing menu navigation and addressing PC-specific bugs. This update follows the game's incredibly successful launch in October 2024, achieving million-unit sales on its first day and garnering widespread critical acclaim, including numerous Game of the Year awards and a perfect 100 score on OpenCritic.

Update 1.11 introduces significant menu improvements across all platforms. Players can now adjust battle formations and swap party members directly from the main menu and equipment screen. A new "jump to category" function on the item screen streamlines inventory management. The patch also includes several bug fixes for the PC version, resolving issues with camera control, frame rate inconsistencies, and controller responsiveness.

While a sequel isn't currently in development, director Katsura Hashino expressed his hope for a future Metaphor: ReFantazio series in an interview with Weekly Famitsu, envisioning it alongside Persona and Shin Megami Tensei as a major JRPG franchise.

Speculation about a sequel is high, particularly given Atlus's recent success and the upcoming ninth anniversary of Persona 5. Many anticipate news regarding Persona 6 in 2025.
