Marvel Unveils Launch Date for The Thing and Human Torch in 'Rivals'

The Fantastic Four's roster in Marvel Rivals is expanding! The Thing and Human Torch join the playable character lineup on February 21, 2025, coinciding with a Season 1.5 update. This update promises significant balance adjustments, as teased in a recent developer blog post.

The arrival of Ben Grimm and Johnny Storm follows the introduction of Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman earlier in Season 1. These new heroes are expected to introduce fresh gameplay mechanics and shift the game's meta, similar to the impact of their predecessors. While specific abilities remain undisclosed, anticipation is high.

The Season 1.5 update also includes a rank reset for Ranked players. Expect a four-division demotion (e.g., Diamond I to Platinum II). Future seasons will see six-division drops, with half-season updates resulting in four-division drops. NetEase plans to adjust this system as needed based on player feedback.

Positive changes accompany the reset. Gold-ranked players will receive new costume rewards, and new Crests of Honor will recognize top performers (Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, and One Above All – the top 500).

Creative director Guangyun Chen previously committed to releasing a new character every six weeks. Speculation points towards Blade as the next addition, though official confirmation is pending.
