Marvel Studios and Robert Downey Jr. have dropped a wave of new information regarding *Avengers: Doomsday*, revealing an additional 26 cast members set to join the upcoming blockbuster. Yet, despite the lengthy list unveiled during a dedicated livestream announcement, fans are already wondering who’s missing — and whether more names will be added soon.

Among the confirmed stars, Channing Tatum makes his long-awaited return as Gambit, much to the excitement of X-Men enthusiasts. The full lineup is now available for viewing, but not all fan favorites made the cut — at least not yet.

Several major MCU figures were notably absent from the initial reveal. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man was left out, along with Chris Evans’ Captain America, despite earlier rumors suggesting his involvement in either *Avengers: Doomsday* or *Secret Wars*. Evans himself later clarified those reports. Other notable omissions include Hulk, Hawkeye, Nick Fury, and Rhodey. On the mutant side, no appearances from Deadpool, Wolverine, Storm, or Jean Grey were announced.

While some fans expressed concern over these absences, there may still be hope. Following the announcement, Robert Downey Jr., who will portray Doctor Doom in the film, posted on Instagram hinting that more surprises are yet to come. His cryptic caption read: “That’s what u call a deep bench of talent. Actually it’s more like a row, but an extra long one… That must be it.. right?”

Marvel itself responded to the post by commenting, “There's always room for more.” The Russo Brothers also chimed in with a teasing “It’s time…” further fueling speculation about future announcements.

What Could This Mean for Phase 7?

The co-directors of *Avengers: Doomsday* recently described the film as part of a larger narrative arc that will redefine the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving into Phase 7. Joe Russo hinted at the creative direction behind the story, stating:

“We love villains who think they’re the heroes of their own stories. That’s when they become three-dimensional and they become more interesting. When you have an actor like Robert Downey, you have to create a three-dimensional, well-shaped character for the audience. That’s where a lot of our focus is going.”

*Avengers: Doomsday* is scheduled for release on May 1, 2026, followed by *Secret Wars* in May 2027. Before then, audiences can look forward to *Thunderbolts\** (May 2025), *Ironheart* (June 2025), and *The Fantastic Four: First Steps* (July 2025).

In addition, Marvel has reserved three untitled films for 2028 — February 18, May 5, and November 10 — sparking speculation that one of them could finally introduce the X-Men in full force within the MCU.
