Marvel Rivals: Players Propose Enhanced Rewards System

Marvel Rivals faces player backlash over its reward system, specifically the difficulty in obtaining nameplates without in-app purchases. A Reddit user, DaPurpleDerpleOf, ignited a discussion by suggesting a simple solution: converting Lore Banners into nameplate rewards. This addresses player frustration with the current system, where many desirable nameplates are paywalled.

The game, launched in December 2024, recently released its Season 1 update, expanding the content significantly. While the Season 1 battle pass boasts numerous character skins, the scarcity of easily obtainable nameplates remains a point of contention. Nameplates are a key form of player customization, alongside sprays and emotes, but their limited availability fuels the criticism. Some players even prefer the aesthetic of Lore Banners, further highlighting the perceived imbalance.

Beyond the battle pass, Marvel Rivals features a Proficiency system rewarding players for mastering characters through gameplay. However, the lack of nameplates among Proficiency rewards is a major complaint. Players argue that nameplates would be a fitting reward for demonstrating skill and mastery, calling their absence a missed opportunity. Many believe adding nameplates to the Proficiency system is a straightforward improvement.

The recent Season 1 update introduced Sue Storm and Mister Fantastic, significantly altering gameplay with new maps and modes. The remaining Fantastic Four members are slated for a future release, with Season 1 running until mid-April. Despite the positive changes, the ongoing debate around the reward system highlights a need for adjustments to better satisfy player expectations.
