Marvel Rivals Mid-Season Reset Reversed Amidst Backlash
Marvel Rivals Reverses Controversial Mid-Season Rank Reset Decision

Following significant player backlash, Marvel Rivals has reversed its decision to implement mid-season rank resets. The developer announced the change in Dev Talk 11, a swift response to the negative reception of Dev Talk 10, which detailed the planned four-division reset halfway through the season.
Players criticized the mid-season reset as discouraging, particularly for those striving for higher ranks. The proposed 45-day reset cycle was deemed too frequent.
Dev Talk 11 confirmed that there will be no mid-season rank reset. Players will retain their existing ranks and scores from the first half of the season. However, the end-of-season reset, dropping players six divisions, remains in place.
Continued Updates Despite Rank Reset Reversal

Despite this significant change, other planned updates are proceeding as scheduled. The addition of Human Torch and The Thing, expanding the hero roster to 39, is still on track. NetEase Games continues its commitment to releasing two new playable characters per three-month season.
Reward structures for high-ranking players (Gold and above) remain unchanged. Players achieving Gold rank or higher will receive a free Invisible Woman costume, with Grandmaster and above receiving Crests of Honor. Additional rewards, including another free costume, will be awarded at the season's end, with Grandmaster and above players again receiving Crests of Honor.
While balance adjustments were also previously announced for the mid-season update, specific details are yet to be revealed.
Community Feedback and Developer Response

Marvel Rivals' rapid response to community concerns highlights its commitment to player feedback. The developer's swift reversal of the mid-season reset decision, within hours of the initial announcement, demonstrates its responsiveness to player sentiment.
The developer emphasized its dedication to community engagement, stating that player feedback is crucial in shaping the game's development.
The mid-season update is scheduled for February 21, 2025. Marvel Rivals is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay updated on the latest news and developments via the official Marvel Rivals channels.
