Joker Studio Unveils Mobile RPG Sea of Remnants
NetEase Games has officially unveiled its latest RPG project, Sea of Remnants, set to launch in 2026 for PS5, PC, and mobile platforms. The game is being developed by Joker Studio—the creative minds behind Identity V—and published by NetEase, promising a rich and immersive experience across multiple devices.
What’s the Story?
In Sea of Remnants, players take on the role of a puppetfolk sailor navigating a vast, mysterious oceanic world. You’ll have the opportunity to recruit over 300 unique companions and train them for battle, exploration, and survival. The gameplay blends ship customization with modular parts, turn-based combat, and deep open-world exploration—all centered around a compelling single-player narrative.
At its core, the story explores themes of memory and loss. Sailors who venture into the enigmatic Sea of Remnants risk losing their most treasured skills, yet they continue to return, drawn by something deeper. The sea itself is not just water—it's a living archive of memories, both your own and those of forgotten captains from ages past.
A key hub in your journey is Orbtopia, a vibrant pirate city where you can dock your ship and restock supplies. Full of life and character—from the scent of frying oil to roosters and cats roaming the streets—Orbtopia dynamically evolves based on your choices and actions throughout the game.
The world of Sea of Remnants features dynamic real-time weather that impacts your voyage. Calm seas can quickly erupt into violent storms, whirlpools twist the map unpredictably, and massive leviathans descend from the clouds. From smoldering volcanic islands to eerie haunted ruins, every corner of this world challenges your survival instincts.
Joker Studio has already released a pair of trailers offering a glimpse into Sea of Remnants Mobile. Check them out below:
Sea of Remnants Will Be Free to Play on Mobile
Confirmed as a free-to-play title on mobile, Sea of Remnants does not currently disclose any gacha mechanics. However, given the sheer size of its companion roster, modular systems, and live service aspirations, it wouldn’t be surprising if some form of loot-based mechanic appears in the future.
With these first impressions, the development team has successfully captured player interest. Visually, the game shines with a bold art style that combines hand-drawn animation, comic book aesthetics, graffiti elements, and surreal glitch effects. Fans can explore more visuals and details directly on the official [ttpp] website.
