Jason Momoa Teases Lobo’s Debut in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow: 'We Look Pretty Dead On'
Jason Momoa, known for his role as Aquaman in the DCEU, is set to bring the iconic anti-hero Lobo to life in the upcoming DC Universe film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, slated for release in 2026. This marks Momoa's entry into the rebooted DCU, portraying a character he’s long admired.
Lobo, an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter from the deceased planet Czarnia, possesses superhuman strength and immortality. Created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, he first appeared in Omega Men #3 (1983). Sharing a similar origin story of being the last survivor of their respective worlds with Superman, Lobo is a compelling antihero.
Momoa, in an interview with ScreenRant, expressed his excitement about portraying Lobo, highlighting the character's visual similarity to himself and emphasizing his long-held desire to take on the role. He teased a visually striking portrayal, mentioning Lobo's signature "rough and gruff" personality and a particularly cool motorcycle.
While confirming his involvement, Momoa clarified that his appearance will be a relatively brief cameo, emphasizing that the film focuses primarily on Supergirl's story.

DC co-chief James Gunn previously shared a first look at Milly Alcock as Supergirl on Bluesky, announcing the commencement of filming for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The film is heavily inspired by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira's graphic novel of the same name, focusing on Supergirl aiding Ruthye Marye Knoll in avenging her father's murder.
The film boasts a strong cast including Milly Alcock as Supergirl, Matthias Schoenaerts as the villain Krem, Eve Ridley as Ruthye, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother, and Jason Momoa as Lobo.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, scheduled for a June 2026 release, is the second film in the new DCU, following James Gunn's Superman this summer, with the DCU Clayface movie slated for September 2026.
