Japanese Switch 2 Priced Lower Than Global Version
Get ready for the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, which is set to launch with a notable pricing difference between Japan and the rest of the world. The new gaming console will come in two distinct versions: a Japanese-language system, exclusively available in Japan, and a Multi-Language System, available globally. The Japanese version will retail at a lower price of around $330, while the Multi-Language System will be priced at $449.99, showcasing a significant $100+ difference. This variance in pricing can be attributed to the current weakness of the yen against the US dollar, which has a direct impact on the purchasing power of tourists in Japan.
For those living in Japan, the option to purchase the Multi-Language System version remains available. However, the Japanese-language system version is exclusively sold within Japan and is only accessible to Nintendo Accounts registered with Japan as their Country/Region. This version supports solely the Japanese language and is limited to software available on the Japanese Nintendo eShop.
Nintendo advises fans who prefer using the Switch 2 in languages other than Japanese to opt for the Multi-Language System version. Further details on this version will be unveiled on April 4.
