Heroes of the Storm Revives Brawl Mode: A Celebration of Classic Maps and Challenges

Heroes of the Storm is bringing back the beloved Heroes Brawl game mode, rebranded as "Brawl Mode," offering a fresh take on chaotic fun. After a near five-year hiatus, this update unleashes dozens of previously unavailable maps, each presenting unique challenges and gameplay twists. Currently available on the Public Test Realm (PTR), Brawl Mode's official launch is anticipated within a month.

The original Heroes Brawl, initially launched as Arena Mode in 2016, delivered weekly rotating game modes featuring unconventional map layouts, objectives, and rules. These inspired, Hearthstone-style Brawls ranged from intense sniper duels to action-packed Arena variations of existing battlefields, and even a cooperative PvE mission. However, due to the rising popularity of single-lane maps and the inherent maintenance challenges, Heroes Brawl was ultimately retired in 2020, replaced by ARAM (All Random, All Mid).

Brawl Mode's return marks a significant moment for Heroes of the Storm. This updated version, accessible on the PTR, introduces a bi-weekly rotation (1st and 15th of each month), a change from the original weekly schedule. Players can earn a special chest after completing three Brawl matches during its active period. The exact reward structure (single reward per Brawl or multiple rewards per week) remains to be confirmed. With a vast library of past Brawls (over two dozen), players can anticipate the return of many favorites, and potentially the introduction of entirely new Brawls.

The initial Brawl Mode iteration, the festive Snow Brawl, is currently playable on the Heroes of the Storm PTR. The PTR version is slated to run for three weeks, suggesting a potential February launch for Brawl Mode. This coincides nicely with Heroes of the Storm's 10th anniversary on June 2nd, 2025.

This revival is a major win for the Heroes of the Storm community, and many are hopeful that it signifies a broader resurgence for the game.
