Helldivers 2 Update Made Big Improvement to the Flamethrower

Helldivers 2's recent patch significantly boosted the Flamethrower, a powerful but previously unwieldy weapon. The game, a cooperative shooter released in early February 2024 by Sony and Arrowhead Studios, quickly gained a massive player base, becoming a PlayStation hit.

The FLAM-40 Flamethrower, while devastating, suffered from poor handling. A March damage buff (50%) spurred experimentation, but its sluggishness remained a major drawback. However, the latest update, 01.000.403, changed that.

This patch addressed a bug in the Peak Physique armor perk (introduced in mid-June with the Viper Commandos Warbond). This perk, intended to improve weapon handling and increase melee damage, was malfunctioning, severely impacting the Flamethrower's responsiveness. A Reddit user's video, highlighted by Helldivers 2's official Twitter, showcased the dramatic improvement in handling post-patch; the weapon, previously described as turning "like a truck," now feels much more agile.

The swift resolution of this issue is a testament to the developers' responsiveness. While players celebrate the upgrade, requests for further refinements continue, such as addressing an upward-pointing flame issue when using the Jump Pack simultaneously. Future updates will hopefully address these remaining concerns.
