Guide: Optimizing Faction Selection in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Choosing Your Path in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Like its predecessors, Dynasty Warriors: Origins plunges you into the heart of ancient China, allowing you to battle alongside various warlords. However, a crucial decision awaits: choosing your allegiance. This guide clarifies the faction selection process.
Early Game Neutrality
The initial chapters feature the Wanderer, your character, as a neutral party. You'll assist Sun Jian, Cao Cao, and Liu Bei, participating in key events like the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate. This provides a chance to experience each faction's style.
The Crucial Choice: Chapter 3
Chapter 3 presents the pivotal moment: selecting a faction. The game offers additional battles to aid your decision-making before this commitment.
Completing Faction Missions
To ally with a specific faction, you must complete a predetermined number of missions: three for Sun Jian, two for Liu Bei, and one for Cao Cao. Upon completion, a new mission triggers, forcing you to choose an alliance. Only factions with completed missions will be selectable. You can, however, complete all missions before making your final choice.
Irreversible Commitment
Your faction choice is permanent. Once selected, the unchosen factions become inaccessible, preventing further side quests and hindering bond development with their officers. This can impact gameplay difficulty; for instance, allying with Liu Bei initially limits access to commanding officers and skill point opportunities.
Multiple Playthroughs Recommended
Each faction offers unique missions. To experience all content, creating a separate save file before the final decision is highly recommended, allowing you to replay the game with different allegiances.
