GTA 6: Special Edition and In-Game Purchases Priced at $150

Take-Two Interactive, the publisher of Grand Theft Auto, spearheaded the movement towards $70 AAA game pricing. Concerns exist that they might increase prices even further with Grand Theft Auto 6.

While a standard edition of GTA 6 might remain in the $70 range, avoiding the $80-$100 price point, industry insiders suggest a premium edition priced at $100-$150 with early access could be offered.

Tez2, a known industry insider, notes that Take-Two already sells GTA Online and Red Dead Online separately. GTA 6 will be the first title to launch with a separate online component, while the story mode will be bundled in a "complete package" encompassing both.

This separate online sale impacts pricing. The question becomes: how much of the base price reflects the online component? And what will the story mode upgrade cost for those who purchased the standalone GTA 6 Online?

A lower price for the online version could attract players unable to afford the $70 or $80 full game. Take-Two benefits as these players would likely upgrade to access the story mode. This strategy also creates a revenue stream from players desiring story mode but unable to afford the upgrade.

Further monetization could be achieved through a Game Pass-like subscription, potentially GTA+. Players opting for continuous gameplay over saving for an upgrade would generate consistent revenue, ultimately benefiting Take-Two.
