Forza Fans Brace for December Farewell

Forza Horizon 4: Digital Stores to Remove Game and DLC in 2024

The popular open-world racing game, Forza Horizon 4, will be removed from major digital storefronts on December 15, 2024. This means players will no longer be able to purchase the game or any additional content digitally after that date.

Launched in 2018, Forza Horizon 4 quickly became a beloved Xbox title, boasting over 24 million players (as of November 2020) and featuring a stunning recreation of the UK. Despite previous assurances from developer Playground Games, expiring licenses necessitate the game's removal.

The delisting will affect the Microsoft Store, Steam, and Xbox Game Pass. All DLC will be unavailable for purchase starting June 25, 2024, leaving only the Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate editions available until the December 15th deadline.

Forza Horizon 4's Final Series and Post-Delisting Access

The game's final series, Series 77, runs from July 25th to August 22nd, 2024. Following this, the playlist screen will become inaccessible, although the Forza Events screen will remain active, offering daily and weekly challenges and Forzathon Live events.

Existing players, whether owning physical or digital copies, can continue playing without interruption. Game Pass subscribers with active, paid subscriptions who own DLC will receive a game token to maintain access.

License Expiry and Discount Offers

The delisting is due to expiring licenses for in-game cars and music – a common issue affecting racing games. This follows the previous removal of Forza Horizon 3 for similar reasons.

To celebrate the game's lasting impact, Steam is currently offering an 80% discount. An Xbox Store sale is also planned for August 14th, providing a final opportunity for players to acquire the game before its digital removal.
