FF7 Rebirth DLC Will Only Come If Fans Request It
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth PC Version: No DLC Planned, But Modders Welcome (With Conditions)
The director of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Naoki Hamaguchi, recently shed light on the game's PC port, addressing player expectations regarding DLC and the modding community. Read on for the details.
DLC: A Matter of Demand
While the development team initially considered adding episodic DLC to the PC release, resource constraints led them to prioritize completing the final installment of the Remake trilogy. Hamaguchi stated that adding new content is not currently planned, but he's open to considering player requests. Significant player demand could sway the decision.
A Message to Modders
Although official mod support isn't included, Hamaguchi acknowledged the inevitable interest from the modding community. He extended a welcome to creative contributions but emphasized a crucial request: mods should refrain from offensive or inappropriate content.
The potential for creative modding is vast, ranging from enhanced visuals to entirely new gameplay elements. However, Hamaguchi's plea for responsible modding reflects the need to maintain a positive and inclusive gaming environment.
PC Version Enhancements
The PC version boasts graphical improvements over the PS5 release, including enhanced lighting and texture resolutions, addressing previous concerns about character models appearing unnatural. Higher-spec PCs will benefit from even more detailed 3D models and textures. The port also presented challenges, particularly in adapting the game's mini-games for PC controls.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second chapter in the Remake trilogy, launches on Steam and the Epic Games Store on January 23, 2025. For more information, check out our other FF7 Rebirth coverage.
