Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince Set for Launch on Multiple Platforms

Last year's Switch release of Square Enix's monster-collecting RPG, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince, was a delightful experience despite some technical hiccups. Its charm and addictive gameplay surpassed other Dragon Quest spin-offs on the platform, rivaling the exceptional Dragon Quest Builders 2. While a PC port was anticipated, a mobile release seemed far off. Surprisingly, Square Enix announced that the previously Switch-exclusive title will launch on iOS, Android, and Steam on September 11th, priced at $29.99 on mobile and $39.99 on Steam. All previously released DLC, including the Digital Deluxe Edition content, will be included.

Square Enix's official Japanese website features comparison screenshots showcasing the game's visuals across mobile, Switch, and Steam. Here's one example:
Importantly, the online real-time battle mode from the Switch version will be absent in the Steam and mobile releases.
The Nintendo Switch version of Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince is currently available for $59.99 (standard) and $84.99 (Digital Deluxe Edition). Given my enjoyment of the Switch version, I'm eager to review the game on iPhone, iPad, and Steam Deck upon its September 11th launch. This rapid mobile porting is a welcome surprise, especially considering the typical delays seen with other Dragon Quest titles' mobile releases. Pre-register now on the App Store for iOS and Google Play for Android.
