Divinity: Original Sin 2 - How to Get to Bloodmoon Island
Quick Links
Bloodmoon Island is a mysterious and intriguing location in the northern part of Reaper's Coast. This island is isolated by a deadly shroud of Deathfog and the only bridge connecting it to the mainland is destroyed, making it seem impossible to reach. However, exploring Bloodmoon Island is crucial for advancing the main plot and unlocking additional side quests in Divinity: Original Sin 2.
The game can leave players searching Reaper's Coast for clues on how to navigate the Deathfog and reach Bloodmoon Island. Here are detailed methods to help you reach this elusive island and progress in the story.
Spirit Vision Shows The Way
Bloodmoon Island was once connected to Reaper's Coast via a bridge, located northeast of Cloisterwood, close to Jahan and Witch Alice. This bridge, now in ruins, is the key to accessing the island. Upon reaching the bridge, you'll find the Driftwood Fields waypoint. Here, casting Spirit Vision will reveal the broken sections of the bridge, which are divided into segments, some of which are trapped.
Crossing this spirit bridge is manageable with the right tools and skills:
Gloves of Teleportation: Acquired in the first act, these gloves allow you to teleport without learning the skill. You can teleport each companion across the bridge, though it might be tedious.
Translocation Skills: Skills like Phoenix Dive, Cloak and Dagger, and Tactical Retreat enable teleportation across the broken bridge. However, not all party members may have these skills.
Teleporter Pyramids: These artifacts allow warping between pyramids. Use two pyramids to cross the bridge: place one in a companion's inventory, have them cross using translocation skills, and the rest of the party can then warp to their location.
Fast Travel: After crossing the bridge with a companion possessing translocation skills, discover the Bloodmoon Island waypoint. The rest of the party can then fast travel to this location, bypassing the bridge.
Take The Ferry Across The Deathfog
If Fane is in your party, an alternative method to reach Bloodmoon Island is available. As an undead, Fane is immune to Deathfog, allowing him to safely cross it.
Northwest of Cloisterwood, there's a pier with an undead ferryman who offers to ferry your party across the Deathfog. However, this is a trick that results in the death of all but Fane. If Fane takes the ferry alone, he'll reach the island unharmed and can then unlock the Bloodmoon Island waypoint for the rest of the party to fast travel to.
Taking The Ferry Without Fane In The Party
If Fane isn't in your party but you still want to use the ferry, you'll need at least two Teleporter Pyramids:
- Unchain the party and place a Teleporter Pyramid in the inventory of the companion taking the ferry.
- After the ferry journey, the companion will be dead on Bloodmoon Island's pier.
- Use the second Teleporter Pyramid with the rest of the party to warp to the dead companion.
- Revive the dead companion using a resurrection spell or scroll.
If Fane is not available, crossing the bridge remains the quickest and safest method to reach Bloodmoon Island.
Be cautious not to attack the Undead Ferryman, as he can retaliate with a Deathfog spell, causing instant death. If you decide to engage him, quick save first. Defeating him rewards you with a Soothing Cold skillbook, an ordinary belt, and 3,750XP.
