Disney Lorcana's Ninth Set: Fabled Launches in September 2025 Featuring Goofy Movie and Iconic, Epic Cards

Disney Lorcana recently unveiled a wealth of new information about the future of its trading card game, sparking excitement among fans worldwide. Among the highlights, the ninth set, Fabled, is scheduled for release on September 5, 2025, introducing the game’s first-ever Iconic and Epic cards, along with the eagerly awaited arrival of A Goofy Movie cards.

Set to premiere on August 29, Fabled marks a significant milestone with its inclusion of Iconic Cards, which will be the rarest cards in the entire Lorcana universe. Only two Iconic Cards will appear in each set moving forward, featuring stunning artwork of Mickey and Minnie on a carousel. These coveted cards will undoubtedly drive collectors wild.

In addition to Iconic Cards, Epic Cards will also make their debut in Fabled. Rarer than Legendary cards but not as challenging to obtain as Enchanted or Iconic, these cards will boast unique artwork and special foil treatments, offering players even more opportunities to collect something truly special, such as a new version of Elsa (Snow Queen).

Another groundbreaking feature of Fabled is the introduction of card rotation. Starting with this set, certain cards will rotate out of competitive play, making them illegal in the highest tier of competitive formats, known as Core Constructed. However, to accommodate players who rely on older cards for their strategies, some fan-favorite cards from the initial sets will be reprinted in Fabled, ensuring their continued usability in competitive play.

Reign of Jafar, the eighth set, will be available in pre-release on May 30 and officially released on June 6, 2025. This set continues the ongoing narrative centered around the villainous Jafar, who now wields the Hexwell Crown. Fans can expect traps, illusions, and new allies like Jasmine (Steady Strategist) and Rapunzel (High Climber) as they unite to reclaim the crown and overthrow Jafar.

Looking ahead, fans can anticipate the upcoming set Whispers in the Well, scheduled for release in Q4 2025. While few details are available, concept art suggests the inclusion of classic characters like Mickey and Ariel, along with the anticipated addition of Disney Gargoyles. Additionally, whispers of a new type of Glimmer card have sparked speculation.

Further down the line, fans can rejoice as Darkwing Duck will officially join the Lorcana universe in 2026, fulfilling years of fan requests.
