Dark & Darker Mobile could be getting a name change from Krafton
Dark and Darker Mobile is facing a name change as Krafton terminates its agreement with Ironmace. This move follows a recent court ruling ordering Ironmace to pay Nexon $6 million in damages. While Krafton denies a direct connection, the timing is undeniably significant. The lawsuit centers on allegations that Ironmace, founded by former Nexon employees, used trade secrets from a cancelled Nexon project (codenamed P3) to develop Dark and Darker.
Despite Krafton's statement, the termination of their global licensing agreement suggests a more complex relationship than initially portrayed. Dark and Darker Mobile, under its new name, will be a completely independent release.
The irony is not lost: Ironmace initially sued Nexon for copyright infringement. Now, despite the partnership ending, Krafton appears poised to continue development, effectively "rebranding" the game. This situation opens the door for similar releases in the genre.
While the name change and legal battles unfold, the planned global launch of Dark and Darker Mobile (or its successor) remains unaffected—for now. We will provide updates should any changes occur. We remain hopeful the final product maintains the high quality we appreciated in our previous review.
